About Geo Dipa

Geo Dipa Energi is a state-owned enterprise in Indonesia that's all about geothermal energy. They're working on power plants to create clean energy, helping out with the country's energy sustainability and resilience.

History of Geo Dipa Energy

Founded in 2002, PT Geo Dipa Energi started as a private company initiated by PT Pertamina and PT PLN to oversee geothermal resources in Dieng and Patuha. PT Pertamina contributed 67% of its shares, transforming GeoDipa into a State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN) in the geothermal sector. Its business activities encompass exploration, exploitation, and the development of geothermal power plants (PLTP).

Operations kicked off with PLTP Dieng Unit 1 (60 MW) and Patuha Unit 1 (2014, 60 MW). The generated electricity is sold to PT PLN through agreements and is connected to the Java-Madura-Bali power grid.

  • Established as PERTAMINA and PLN joint venture to manage the Dieng and Patuha geothermal fields.
  • Operate geothermal power plant Dieng Unit 1 (60 MW).
  • The power purchase agreement with PLN for the Dieng and Patuha areas each of 400 MW as outlined in the form of an Enegy Sales Contract (ESC).
  • GeoDipa received the right to manage the Mining Concession Area in the Dieng Area and the Patuha Area starting September 4, 2002.
  • PT Geo Dipa Energi (Persero) signed a collaboration with PT Bumigas Energy for the BTOT (Build Transfer Operate Together) collaboration.
  • GeoDipa was designated as a BUMN through PP No. 62/2011.
  • Geo Dipa received confirmation as the manager of the Dieng Plateau WKP, starting from January 1, 2007 through the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation No. 2192.K/30/MEM/2014.
  • Construction of the geothermal power plant Patuha Unit 1 with support from the Government through national banking funding (BNI & BRI).
  • Operate geothermal power plant Patuha Unit 1 (60 MW).
  • Received confirmation as full management of the Patuha areas starting January 2007 through the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation No. 2192.K/30/MEM/2014.
  • Received State Capital Participation (BPYBDS, IDR2 trillion).
  • Received additional State Capital Participation (PMN) of IDR607 billion for geothermal development in Dieng and Patuha Unit 2 (two).
  • The Supreme Court issues a decision (loses) to BUMN GeoDipa, where the request of PT Bumigas Energy was granted.
  • The government issued the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree No. 1748 of 2017 concerning the Geothermal Assignment to PT Geo Dipa Energi (Persero) in the Geothermal Working Area in the Mount Arjuno Welirang area.   • Implementation of Tajak for the Dieng 2 and Patuha 2 Projects.
  • Commencement of the construction process of the Patuha 2 geothermal power plant project.
